Cartography

In order that data on terrestrial or photogrammetric survey can be presented in a way which provides data users with qualitative and clear perception of the presented space, data are cartographically designed in accordance with code system of cartographic symbols, i.e. legend.

In the area of cartography, Institute for photogrammetry does the following:

  • carries out digital cartographic data processing of survey,
  • produces topographic plans and maps of different scales,
  • constructs digital relief models and different altitudinal displays,
  • calculates and processes digital ortophoto, produces ortophoto plans and maps,
  • produces thematic maps.

Thematic maps

Institute for photogrammetry has a rich digital data base on topography, roads, hydrography, settlements, borders and other spatial entities that serve as a basis for creating various thematic maps such as tourist maps, road maps, general maps for various projects, etc.

Topographic map 1:25000 - TK 25

New digital topographic maps of a scale 1:25000 started to be created in Croatia in the middle 1990ies. Institute for photogrammetry has been involved in establishing the system of collecting topographic data, constructing topographic and cartographic digital models, as well as cartographic designing and map printing from the beginning.

Institute for photogrammetry has created around one third of sheets of digital topographic map 1:25000 that have been completed so far.

Croatian Basic Map 1:5000 - HOK 5

Croatian Basic map 1:5000 comprises a big amount of topographic information making it indispensable basis for purposes of civil engineering, urban, hydrotechnical and electric-power-industry projecting.

Institute for photogrammetry has been producing Croatian Basic Map 1:5000 for more than 30 years and it has produced more than 60 % of maps produced in the Republic of Croatia generally. Nowadays, HOK 1:5000 is produced using aerophotogrammetric survey with direct digital 3D data.
