Aerotriangulation

Aerotriangulation is the process of densing of ground control points resulting in spatially oriented image ready for survey regarding position and altitude. If the basic parametre of the image and position at the moment of photographing is known, it is possible to survey all displayed details on the image as in a real surveying situation and place them into real space.

Detailed planning of the recording project and position of orientation points is needed for successful conduct of aerotriangulation procedure. Institute for photogrammetry has a long experience and tradition in projecting and aerotriangulation block adjustment.

Due to the recent implementation of digital photogrametric cameras and increased number of projects, there is a need for as fast orientation of records as possible. In 2002, Institute for photogrammetry was the first firm in Croatian that introduced the process of completely automated aerotriangulation. Through regular participation at seminars and workshops and dedicated work, the Institute observes and adopts the latest world trends in automated aerotriangulation and photogrammetry in general. Automated aerotriangulation has become the essential part of production procedure of the Institute and one of its advantages.

In the area of aerotriangulation, Institute for photogrammetry conducts:

  • flight projects and position of ground control points projects,
  • observation and aerotriangulation adjustment manually and automatically,
  • evaluation of precision and quality control of certain projects,
  • transformation of aerotriangulation data into all forms acceptable to various producers of digital photogrametric stations.
